Garden Party 16th July
The annual Harleston Choral Society garden party took place on Sunday 16th July. A fine buffet with excellent sweets and ice cream was consumed and two rounds of a music quiz took place before the rain ended play at 6.30. See you all at the workshops in August. Quiz Evening Friday 17 March 2023
Our Quiz Evening on 17 March was a huge success and we made over £400 for HCS, for which we thank Fiona Bartlett who organised the raffle; John Formston for acting as our intrepid Quiz Master; everyone who helped with setting up beforehand and clearing up afterwards; the Committee for providing some delicious puddings, our amazing Chief Cook Julia Awty and her wonderful lasagnes; and of course everyone who came and donated to the evening.
Summer Social Events
On Monday 27th June, we met for coffee at the Broken Egg in Harleston and on Saturday 16th July, we enjoyed a wonderful afternoon garden party together courtesy of our alto member Caroline.
Our next social event was the Quiz Evening with a two-course supper, quiz and raffle on Friday 19th August. Almost 50 people attended, it was great fun and also raised plenty of funds for the choir.
Choir Picnic at John and Julia’s 1st August 2021
We were not idle during lockdown and were able to sing together online
Despite all the difficulties, there was so much enthusiasm from members to find a way to sing together that we set up zoom sessions online led by our accompanist, Karen Smith. We practised short pieces such as Ave verum Corpus by Mozart, Franck’s Panis angelicus, Locus iste by Bruckner, O Jesus when I come to die by Bach and If ye love me by Tallis and sang together for the first time at our picnic in August.
